Borderlines – in development
24. October 2012This work is not about geopolitics — usually associated with borderlines, but instead about personal politics and social politics. This project evokes the space and feeling of where personal meets political. It highlights the borderline and tension between despair or indignation, pleading or protesting. It draws on the political climate of the 21st Century and recent events of Occupy and the Arab Spring. Both events showed a mass desire for something new. Both events offered a challenge to us all to decide where we draw our own lines, and to decide what it would take to cross that line.
Borderlines is a performance installation developed in collaboration with sound artist Ben Taaffe during an artist residency at Kyoto Art Center, November 2011 – February 2012. Ben and Aimee are looking to continue developing this work in 2013.
